Bordon sits out training - Kuranyi back in contention

30.09.2009

Defender Marcelo Bordon was a noticeable absentee from the sole training session today (Wednesday) after withdrawing from training on Tuesday due to a knee problem. "His knee is still inflamed", said Felix Magath.

The Schalke manager was quick to give the Brazilian the all clear for Friday's visit of Frankfurt, however. "I had expected Marcelo to resume training today, but he didn't quite make it. He's undergoing treatment and will link up with the rest of the players on Thursday", he explained.

Meanwhile Kevin Kuranyi has a realistic chance of making the squad for the Frankfurt game. Magath said: "He's been involved in all of the preparations so far and also trained quite a long time while he was ill. Unless something happens by tomorrow, he'll be in the squad."
