Büskens, Mulder and Reck take interim charge

The managing board of FC Schalke 04 has reaffirmed its confidence in its coaching triumvirate. Mike Büskens, Youri Mulder and Oliver Reck will remain in charge of team affairs for the last nine games of the 2008/09 Bundesliga season, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
This is the outcome of several meetings this week between the managing board and the three coaches on the club's current situation. The talks focused on the circumstances surrounding the dismissal of head coach Fred Rutten, recent developments at the club and its future prospects. That both sides had a need to talk was demonstrated by the open, occasionally controversial and emotional nature of the discussions.
The managing board then evaluated the various positions before deciding to go into the final nine games of the campaign with Büskens, Mulder and Reck at the helm. All three consider themselves equal partners and intend to take decisions democratically, as was the case when they were handed temporary control at the end of last season.
The managing board has every confidence in its coaching triumvirate after all three made it very clear that they will do everything they can to succeed in the remaining nine games.
