Holtby and Moravek target World Cup quarter-finals

06.10.2009

After topping their group at the Under-20 World Cup in Egypt, Germany and Schalke midfielder Lewis Holtby now face Nigeria in the Round of 16 on Wednesday (2000 CET, live on Eurosport). The Super Eagles finished third in Group B.

Germany coach Horst Hrubesch is satisfied with his side's performances to date. "We are now beginning to gel and the players are playing with confidence. That makes me optimistic", he said ahead of the knockout tie.

"Like many African teams Nigeria have some good individual players. They've also progressed in terms of discipline, organisation and attitude. But I'm sure we'll get our opportunities. We've only conceded one goal so far and have created some excellent chances in each half we've played", added Hrubesch, confident his side will go through to the quarter-finals.

Schalke's Jan Moravek and the Czech Republic are in action later today when they take on Hungary in Alexandria (2000 CET, live on Eurosport). The Czechs qualified for the Round of 16 after finishing second in Group E.
