The FIFA release period begins this week and seven Schalke players have been called up for international duty. Vasileios Pliatsikas is in for a particularly exciting trip. The Schalke youngster will be battling for a place at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa as Greece take on Ukraine in the play-offs.
Ivan Rakitic will play for Croatia in the European Under 21 Championship qualifiers, while Mohamed Amsif and Christoph Moritz will be in action for Germany's under-20 side against Austria in the Four Nations tournament, a game for which Danny Latza is on call. Carlos Zambrano is away with Peru for their friendly with Honduras.
Manuel Neuer and Heiko Westermann will also be involved in one friendly. Germany plays against Ivory Coast at the VELTINS Arena on Wednesday (2045 CET).
