Lincoln handed five-match ban

27.02.2007

Details of the suspension for Lincoln were announced today following the Brazilian's sending off directly after the home match against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.

The case was brought by the control committee of the German Football Association (DFB) and heard at the DFB sport tribunal. Sitting alone, the adjudicator deemed Lincoln's action to be "violent conduct against an opponent in response to an unsportsmanlike act" and handed the Schalke midfielder a five-match suspension.

As a result Lincoln will miss the games against SV Hamburg (H), Hannover 96 (A), VfB Stuttgart (H), Bayern Munich (A) and Borussia Mönchengladbach (H) and will not be eligible to play again until the trip to FSV Mainz on 14 April. Lincoln and FC Schalke 04 will not be appealing against the ruling.
