Third-division outfit Dynamo Dresden recently completed building work on the new Rudolf Harbig Stadium. Grounds for celebration, then. The club from the Saxony capital have therefore invited FC Schalke 04 to contest the opening game on Tuesday (kick-off: 1930 CET).
Felix Magath takes a positive view of the meeting with the side currently occupying 14th place in the third division. "It's a game between two traditional clubs and I'm really looking forward to it", he said.
The Schalke boss wishes the eight-time East German champions all the best for the future. Magath said: "I hope that Dynamo can rekindle their former success in their new home." The new stadium in Dresden has a capacity of 32,296.
Marcelo Bordon (minor knock) and Heiko Westermann (slight ankle injury) will not be involved, but as things stand neither defender is at risk of missing Friday's visit of VfL Wolfsburg.
