Two new players will be involved when the Royal Blues begin their preparations for the second half of the season on Wednesday, in all probability in two groups. Felix Magath's men will also be taking part in the indoor tournament in Oldenburg (live on DSF from 1400 CET) on their first day back.
When the senior squad gather in the dressing room on Wednesday morning, they will be joined for the first time by new signings Tore Reginiussen (Tromso IL) and Bogdan Müller (Spielvereinigung Neckarelz). But Schalke will presumably have to wait a little longer for the return of midfielder Ze Roberto, whose loan deal with Brazilian champions Flamengo does not formally expire until the end of the month. "I expect him to be here with us on 2 January, however, when we fly to Spain for our training camp", said Magath. This also applies to Marcelo Bordon, who was granted a slightly longer rest than the other players.
The first task facing Magath and his coaching team will be to decide who will travel to Oldenburg for the five-a-side tournament and who will stay in Gelsenkirchen for the opening training session.
