Poulsen injury not as serious as first feared

27.07.2005

When Christian Poulsen had to go off injured in the 54th minute it threatened to put a black mark on Schalke's League Cup semi-final victory.

The 25-year-old was not fouled, but simply went over on his right ankle. He was taken to hospital for an x-ray, after which club doctor Thorsten Rarreck gave the all clear, saying that nothing was broken and no ligaments were torn. A pulled ligament was diagnosed, however. The Danish midfielder should be fit again in seven to fourteen days' time.
