Rakitic ruptures ankle ligament

Setback for Ivan Rakitic: a comprehensive examination conducted by club doctor Michael Preuhs revealed that the Croatia international has ruptured the lateral collateral ligament in his right ankle.
Rakitic hobbled off just minutes after coming on as a substitute against Bayern Munich in the T?Home Cup on Sunday. The Schalke midfielder sustained the injury in a challenge with Andreas Görlitz. Though an operation will not be necessary, the Royal Blues will be without Rakitic for the next few weeks.
