Rakitic: "Team spirit is better"

20.08.2009

Two days after the defeat of VfL Bochum, Ivan Rakitic spoke to schalke04.de about the atmosphere in the team and the changes made by head coach Felix Magath.

After the 3-0 win on Sunday the fans were delighted with the team. How do you assess the euphoria?
I think it was an initial step forward and we left a good impression. We now have to build on that. The first two wins were expected of us but Hoffenheim on Friday are a completely different calibre of team. Last season they gave an impressive display of what they are capable of.

Felix Magath told us that the team always listen to AC/DC on the coach before matches. Is this something that can spur the players on?
Every player has his own preferences, but it's true that that music really gets you going and motivates you before a game.

What changes have there been since Felix Magath took charge?
There have been several changes. The dressing room has been reorganised, for one. Now everyone can see and chat to everyone else.

And what has changed on the pitch in your opinion?
The team spirit is better. We all run and fight for each other. We definitely have to build on that and keep it going.
