Sarpei: Proud to be a Schalke player

Hans Sarpei is an experienced footballer with a host of Bundesliga and international appearances under his belt. In this interview with schalke04.com the 34-year-old full-back tells us how he is feeling and talks about his position and his targets at Schalke.
Hans Sarpei, welcome to Schalke. Your move from Bayer Leverkusen to the Royal Blues was completed in just a few hours. How are you feeling?
I'm very glad that Felix Magath has given me the opportunity to play for such a big club. I'm proud to be a part of a club with such a long tradition.
What are your targets with the Royal Blues?
I'd like to help the team have a successful season and I'll be doing my utmost in training to achieve this objective. And obviously I've come here to play…
In what position?
That's up to the coach. I can do a job at both left and right-back. I'm happy to help wherever the team need me.
Do you know where and when you came to Felix Magath's attention?
I've been playing in the Bundesliga for quite a while and so I'm not an unknown quantity. I was also able to play in all five games for Ghana at the World Cup in South Africa. I think I put in some good performances for the national team there and showed what I can do. The World Cup was a good platform for me.
