Once it became clear that a move for Misimovic wasn't going to happen we acted quickly and signed this major Romanian talent," said Felix Magath.

After making his debut for CFR Cluj on 6 August 2006 Deac made a total of 78 appearances (6 goals) in the Romanian top flight for CFR Cluj and Otelul Galati, where he played 15 times on loan in the 2007/08 season.

He made his international bow on 3 March 2010 and has played five times for his country since then. Deac won two championship medals with CFR Cluj (2008 and 2010) and lifted the Romanian cup three times (2008, 2009, 2010). He will wear the number 27 shirt for the Royal Blues.

Magath first became aware of the attacking midfielder while on the lookout for a new forward. "We had Cluj watched several times because of a striker and Bernd Hollerbach was there, too. But when he came back he only talked about Ciprian Deac, not a striker."
