Schalke sign Nicolas Plestan

Nicolas Plestan will become the first Frenchman to play for the Royal Blues after completing a move from OSC Lille to Schalke. The 29-year-old central defender has put pen to a paper on a three-year deal that will run into 30 June 2013.
Plestan, a product of the AS Monaco youth scheme, had been with Lille since 2003. He made a total of 109 top-flight appearances (three goals) for the two-time French champions.
