After twelve games without a defeat the questions as to Schalke's title chances are becoming more and more insistent. But the home win over Hertha BSC Berlin has done nothing to change the attitude of Mirko Slomka and his men.
"We're happy to be six points clear. But while we have the quality to win the league, there are another 13 games left, not two", the Schalke boss emphasised. His players would seem to agree. "I don't really care what the table says", claimed Fabian Ernst. "We aren't dreaming. If anything, we need to be careful and keep our feet on the ground." A view shared by midfield partner Zlatan Bajramovic: "I'm not letting it get to me. There are three months to go until the end of the season and so much can happen before then."
Otherwise the Royal Blues are sticking to their policy of taking each game as it comes. And with this in mind Slomka made an appeal to the fans: "We're hoping to have lots of support in Wolfsburg on Saturday. It's going to be another very difficult game because Wolfsburg are having a good spell. But we'll be looking to maintain our lead there and if possible even extend it. We want to carry on winning like we did today."
