The facilities at the Mitterling Stadium, which is just one kilometre from the team's base at the 'Hotel im Park', are excellent, with three grass pitches available to the Royal Blues. After a warm-up session led by fitness coach Dr Christos Papadopoulos the outfield players were put through a programme containing a number of exercises that focused particularly on pressing when the opposing team are in possession of the ball.
Both Lincoln, who sustained a knock to his right knee during Friday's friendly at SW Essen, which the Royal Blues won 2-0 (Ailton 20', Lincoln 38'), and Marcelo Bordon, who was rested by head coach Ralf Rangnick at the weekend, came through the session without any problems. Meanwhile Schalke skipper Frank Rost, who has fully recovered from a neck injury, and Christofer Heimeroth did some special exercises with goalkeeper coach Oliver Reck.
The only negative aspect to the training camp is the weather. Whilst temperatures of about 20 °C mean the conditions are good, there have been several showers, some very heavy.
