Westermann: "That's not the way to play"

The sense of disappointment in the Schalke camp was huge after the 1-0 defeat against SC Freiburg. Captain Heiko Westermann was not at all happy with the performance against the newly promoted side: "That's not the way to play. We had a few decent moments, but that wasn't enough."
That Freiburg would be no pushovers was clear. "We knew we were up against a good footballing side and we knew it would be difficult if we let them come into the game", Westermann continued.
After the first defeat of the season the task now is to analyse the game and cut out the mistakes. But Schalke do not play again until after the international break (away to FC Cologne on 13 September).
Westermann has been named in the Germany squad to face South Africa (5 September) and Azerbaijan (9 September). "Joining up with the national team after a defeat is not so nice. Nevertheless I'm delighted to get the call-up and I hope to see some action", he said.
